Pork Chop and Apples Recipe
This Pork Chop and Apples Recipe is great in the fall of the year during the peak of apple season. Apples and pork chops are a tradition since apple-picking time coincides with hog killing time.
Well, maybe not in this century but certainly in centuries past.

Pork Chops and Apples
Ingredients
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/2 cup chopped onion
4 (1/2-inch thick) pork chops
1/2 teaspoon salt
ground black pepper to taste
2 apples - peeled, cored and sliced
4 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground mustard
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
3/4 cup hot water
Directions
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F.
Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet. Saute the onion in the oil for 1 minute, or until tender. Remove the onion and set aside. Brown the pork chops on both sides in the oil.
Place the pork chops in an 8x12 inch-baking dish and sprinkle them with salt and pepper. Cover the chops with the apple slices and the cooked onion.
In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, mustard, cloves and water and pour over the pork chops. Cover and bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 45 minutes.
This recipe calls for fresh apples but in a pinch canned apples work just about as well. The brown sugar, mustard and ground cloves really add richness to this dish. This Pork Chop and Apples Recipe is a keeper.
