Ham Salad Sandwich Recipe
This Ham Salad Sandwich Recipe is a quick and easy sandwich spread made from
ground ham and cheddar cheese.
A food processor takes all the work out of chopping the ingredients, so you can whip up this sandwich filling whenever you have ham and cheese on hand.

Use different kinds of bread for your sandwiches - my favorite is lettuce-lined pita. Toasted sesame hamburger buns make a filling sandwich, and I have used hot dog buns with this filling at a beach picnic.
They are perfect for little hands that can't quite grasp big bread!

Combine the ham, celery and onion in a food processor and pulse until the mixture is finely chopped. Add the cheddar cheese and pulse until the ingredients are well mixed.

Good To Know - Aside from making a sandwich spread, you can make a mixed salad by adding the fresh greens of your choice to the seasoned mixture.
I would recommend hand chopping the vegetables and ham, and then just stir in the shredded cheddar cheese. Toss all the ingredients together with the mustard dressing. You might want to increase the amount of mayonnaise to make the dressing go a little further.
Food For Thought - The sweet pickle juice adds just a little sweetened tang to this otherwise creamy combination. I just use the juice from a jar of sweet pickles, but you could add a tablespoon of sweet pickle relish to this salad for a little extra flavor.
On Your Own - Once when I didn't have cheddar, I used a cup of shredded pepper Jack - what a difference! I really liked the little bit of heat from the peppers in the cheese. It was such a hit as a sandwich that the next time I needed a dip, I added a chopped jalapeno to the ham and pepper Jack mixture and ground it finely in the food processor.
I served it with potato chips and it disappeared in a flash! This Ham Salad Sandwich Recipe is not just for sandwiches.
