Great Grandma would probably recognize some of the cooking techniques discussed here but her recipes for pork applied to today's pork would probably result in something closely akin to shoe leather.

Wild pigs existed in Europe and Asia over 40 million years ago. Humans of that time surely didn't have recipes at all. If they were lucky enough to bag a wild pig it was more than likely eaten raw. It surely was the technique use by the crew of Columbus ship when he brought pigs to Cuba in 1493 and by the crew of Hernando De Soto when he brought pigs to Florida in 1539.
